The Hassles Of Recovering Your Identity After Being Victimized By Identity Theft
Main Content Add commentsBeing victimized by identity theft can easily overwhelm people, as everything crashes down on them at once about just how much work recovering their identity entails. It’s truly a daunting task; contacting police departments, retail stores, banks, credit bureaus, and the list goes on…
It’s estimated that the average identity theft victim spends over 600 hours in the act of recovering and restoring their identity.
It’s amazing the number of ways thieves are using peoples’ personal data and identities, from driver’s license info, to medical records, to social security and IRS tax info…the number of ways to be victimized seem to increase every day.
Now, you know as well as I do, we all live busy lives these days…and have more on our plates every day…so I don’t know about you, but I know I sure don’t have time to put in 600 hours into restoring my identity and my good name in the case I’m victimized…
And I say, “in the case I’m victimized”, and you may be thinking surely that’s not a big risk. But the FTC states that over 10 million U.S. citizens will be victimized in some way in any given year. Now that’s a huge chance for me to just hope I don’t get victimized.
This 10 minute video gives instructions on everything you’ll need to do to START the process of “recovering” your identity if you become victimized by identity theft (and yes, I did just say START the process…this video only shows the beginning of it all!). I don’t know anyone with this kind of free time.
Or, you can have a Pre-Paid Legal membership along with the Identity Theft Shield, which monitors your credit for you, and attorneys and private investigators do a majority of the work on your behalf so you don’t sink hundreds of hours into the process of restoring your good name.
